FiLIP Smart Watches

TECHNOLOGY is here to answer the cries of protective parents in the form of a watch that will track your children's whereabouts and let them call you in an emergency. 

Just released in the US, the FiLIP smartwatch is made for kids and is a brightly-coloured, chunky and fun-looking piece of kit with a more serious side as this "wearable smart locator" claims to be the world's first device that has "re-imagined smartphone voice and location technology". 

Using GPS, wi-fi triangulation and mobile phone tower location parents can literally watch their kids' exact location on a map on their smartphone. Parents are even able to set "SafeZones" - a perimeter that will send a notification when your child has strayed out of it. 

You and five other pre-authorised people can call the watch as well as being able to send it text messages so they know when to come home. 

There are two buttons on the watch so the children themselves can contact parents. An emergency button will call the first number on the built-in phone list and if there's no answer it'll start calling the next four options. When the emergency button is pressed the watch will record any sound around the device and send a notification with the child's location to the parent. 

As opposed to a mobile phone which could get lost, stolen or be too complicated for young kids to use, this smart little device has the funky looks that will appeal to young children and the technology to offer parents peace of mind. 

Currently it's only available in the USA, although FiLIP say ther are "always exlporing new opportunities". It comes in five colours and costs US$200 (plus US$10 a month contract for the voice and location data).

FiLIP uses more than just GPS – it utilizes a blend of assisted GPS, GSM cell tower location, and Wi- Fi hotspot triangulation to provide the most accurate location information indoors and out.

FCC CERTIFIED ANTENNA:

FiLIP is powerful but safe. It is the first wearable device with full mobile voice capability to earn government certification from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The unique design emits radio energy only when active, and directs it away from the child.
