NYNE floats Aqua Bluetooth waterproof speaker at CES

An innovator of lifestyle-inspired audio products, will introduce the first fully waterproof, floating, Bluetooth 4.0 portable speaker at CES 2014: Aqua. The Aqua is IPX7 tested, featuring 100 percent waterproof protection for music enjoyment in the shower, by the pool, playing at the beach, or riding a snowmobile. No matter what outdoor adventure you choose, Aqua allows you to truly jam out with no worries.

"Aqua answers the need for a portable, high-quality audio speaker that can play music outdoors and withstand the elements," said Arman Arami, president of NYNE. "With up to 10 hours of playtime, the party can last all day at the beach, pool, lake, campsite, or backyard, even when an unexpected rainstorm hits. Aqua plays music from any Bluetooth-enabled device within a 33-foot range, without a wired or dock connection, so your phone or tablet can stay easily accessible and dry."

IPX7 approved, Aqua can be fully submersed in one meter of water for 30 minutes, so whether you knock it off the boat, or float it next to you in the pool, Aqua still pumps out the tunes. Additionally, Aqua is shock resistant to protect it from drops and everyday abuse. Its detachable waterproof silicon band allows for convenient carrying or hanging.

The NYNE Aqua also features a built-in waterproof microphone to answer incoming calls, listen to voicemails and hear text notifications. It has a 2200mAh Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery and a 3.5mm auxiliary input for an optional wired connection or non-Bluetooth devices.

Aqua is packed with close to 10 watts of power and equipped with an EQ button that delivers four preset equalizer settings. The speaker measures approximately 9.5" wide by 5.2" tall by 1.6" deep.
The Bluetooth 4.0 Aqua is IPX7 rated, meaning it can be immersed in water up to 3.2 ft (1 m) in depth

With Bluetooth connectivity becoming the standard in the world of portable audio equipment of late, this year's CES was always going to be flooded with wireless speakers of endless shapes and sizes. One looking to float above the competition is NYNE's Aqua waterproof floating speaker.

Introduced at this week's show in Las Vegas, the unit is IPX7-rated, meaning it can be immersed in water up to 3.2 ft (1 m) in depth for up to 30 minutes. Since the speaker is designed to float, it shouldn't be descending to depths greater than that without some help.

With the ability to stream music from a Bluetooth-enabled device at distances of up to 33 ft (10 m) and the inclusion of a built in waterproof microphone, users can control music playback and answer calls while the wirelessly connected device stays at a safe distance from potential splashes.

The unit is powered by a 2,200-mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery, providing it with what the company says is close to 10 watts of power and up to 10 hours of playtime.

NYNE says the Aqua will be available in grey and blue from the second quarter of 2014, with a MSRP of US$129.95.
